Book BUZZ, Love BUZZ, Valentines Day

5 Cute LGBT Books to Read this Valentine’s Day

Whether you like it or not, the fact that it is Valentine’s Day today is undeniable. And whether you celebrate the day or not, happy Valentine’s Day! If you, like me, fall in the category of people who don’t really care about such days, I have compiled a list of five very cute LGBT books for you to read this Valentine’s Day just because I wanted to do something different. So forget people, date a super cute book today!

  1. Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan

This is one of the cutest LGBT stories I’ve read, and I read a lot of LGBT so that’s something. I don’t remember when I read the book, but I do remember feeling very happy while I did. For me, this utopian story is a classic if you love adorable and tender romances. If you have to read this book for one character, read it for Infinite Darlene, who is so loved by me and if you pick the tenth anniversary edition of the book, there’s also a bonus short story about Infinite Darlene. But if I have to give you only one reason to read Boy Meets Boy, it is this:  David Levithan is King!

  1. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green

Have you even lived if you haven’t read this LGBT story written by two of the best contemporary writers of our time? What happens when you bring two genius and brilliant people together? You get a gem! And that’s exactly what Will Grayson, Will Grayson is. If you have read enough of Levithan and Green, you’ll easily make out which Will Grayson each of them has written because more than Will Grayson, for me, this book is David and John.

  1. Hold Me Closer: A Tiny Cooper Story by David Levithan

Once you are done reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson, chances are you will forget both the Will Graysons and you will forget the story. But one character you will never forget is Mr. Fabulous himself, dear old Tiny Cooper. Tiny, like Infinite Darlene, is a very Levithan character and that basically means that it’s someone you who will take a place in your heart since you meet them. Written in the form of a high school play which is as dramatic as Tiny, Hold Me Closer is everything and so much more!

  1. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

If you end up reading and loving Boy Meets Boy and Will Grayson, Will Grayson, chances are you will also love Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda which is basically some of the best LGBT stories put in one.  Simon is character you will be friends with from page one because he is so relatable in his awkwardness and innocence. And if that isn’t enough, this book is filled with Harry Potter references which, if you are a Potterhead, will be a treat! This one is a true blue contemporary LGBT story.

  1. More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera:

If you take my list seriously and actually end up reading and loving all the books, and if you follow the order in which I have mentioned the books, then More Happy Than Not is going to end up reminding you of all the books mentioned, especially Boy Meets Boy and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I don’t know about you, but I love books which remind me of books I have previously read. This one is deep but very enjoyable read with the most wonderful protagonist ever.

Let me know if you end up reading one of these books and your thoughts on the same. Happy reading, and don’t forget to date a book today because remember, books never leave you!
